The small town of Crescent Cove is the setting for an intergalactic battle like no other! When they witness a strange object falling from the sky, Mike and his girlfriend Debbie set off to investigate and come across a large circus tent in the middle of the woods. Venturing inside, they soon discover that this is no ordinary big top and is actually a spaceship containing an assortment of bizarre alien “Klowns” who have journeyed across the galaxy to lay waste to humankind. After managing to escape, the couple try to alert Debbie’s ex-boyfriend, police officer Dave Hansen about the klowns’ incoming assault on the town but their story is laughed out of the station. When the alien monsters descend on Crescent Cove, however, only Mike, Debbie, Dave and the goofy Terenzi brothers stand in the way of the total annihilation of the town’s population.

 

From the minds of the Chiodo Brothers, the special effects maestros responsible for creature effects, animation and puppet work in such films as Critters, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and Elf comes this day-glo circus-themed nightmare. Celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2023, Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a perennial favourite around here; a gleefully inventive 80s cult classic that is a perfect choice for a late-night screening. Cotton candy cocoons, popcorn guns and acid pies are just some of the nasty tricks these klowns have up their ample sleeves, plus a few other carnival favourites used for murderous effect that we won’t spoil for the uninitiated.
