16-year-old Bucky Le Boeuf is an aspiring filmmaker who spends his days crafting homemade movie “masterpieces” with his trusty video camera, much to the dismay of his dad. With high hopes of becoming the next great arthouse auteur and with no patience for b-grade schlock horror, Bucky brushes off knockbacks and rejections to embark upon his next dramatic opus. When a meteor crash lands in their yard and turns his dad into a zombie, however, Bucky resolves to set aside his artistic pretensions to make the ultimate monster movie with his undead dad in the starring role. With the top prize at a local film festival in his sights, Bucky and his crew kick off production but as the bodies begin to pile up and carnage ensues, they quickly learn that making a movie with real zombies isn’t as easy as they first thought, especially when the director can’t stand the sight of blood.    

One of this year’s major discoveries, All You Need is Blood is a gut-munching, limb-ripping zombie epic with a heart as big as its body count. With standout performances from Logan Riley Bruner (Stranger Things) as Bucky, Mena Suvari (American Beauty) as diva actress Vivian and Eddie Griffin (Undercover Brother) as god-fearing detective Moses T Swan, this irreverent horror comedy perfectly captures the essence of creative obsession and the blood, sweat and tears of no-budget filmmaking, with some sharp observations on the often-absurd nature of cineaste culture.
